The emulsification also improves the digestibility of the other feed components because they are less encapsulated by the fat present in the diet.

Heat stress in poultry results in reduced feed intake, de-hydration through panting, suppression of the immune system, loss of electrolytes,… The new product is a combination of short and medium chained fatty acids, salts, lactose and a probiotic. The salts guarantee an optimal electrolyte balance during heat stress. The other ingredients result in a better animal performance and health .
Volamel MG is one of the active ingredients of Mixomel WS. Volamel MG is an antimicrobial premixture based on monoglycerides. The monoglycerides originate from butter oil. These molecules lower the pathogenic pressure and are an exellent energy source. In the digestive tract, the monoglycerides will be hydrolysed into medium chained fatty acids and glycerol. Medium chained fatty acids are weak acids; at the normal pH of the gut, a large part of the fatty acids are in the undissociated form. Undissociated medium chained fatty acids can penetrate through the cell membrane of gram negative bacteria. Inside the bacterial cell, the pH is higher and the fatty acids will dissociate and thereby lower the pH of the bacterial cell. The anion inhibits cell duplication and the proton causes a drop in pH.
This mechanism can balance the gut flora. The positive effect of Volamel MG is demonstrated in several trials. The below test was run in broilers. In swine,
similar results were shown.
